What is a Catamaran?

A double hull watercraft with sails and usually engines as well for the purpose of getting out of the marines.  These double parallel hulls serve as a wide stabilizer in comparison to a mon hull sailboat that holds its stability on a ballasted.  The word catamaran comes from a Tamil word “kattumaram” meaning logs tied together.  Now that you know what a catamaran is you ready to pick from our inventory of catamaran and boat rentals in Playa del Carmen and or contact us with your group details to send you the best options possible in the Riviera Maya.

“La Yoya” 36-foot Catamaran in the Riviera Maya and Playa del Carmen. With a capacity of up to 15 people, a luxurious option for a small group.  Without the luxury price tag, this catamaran makes for a great sail venture.  Recommended a 5 hour rental to be able to snorkel with turtles at reef Ihna

Our sailaway catamaran to Isla Mujeres also leaving from Cancun.  With capacity for up to 55 people and a very stable sailboat.   Great for any type of celebration, wedding ceremonies, birthday, family reunions and more.   This catamaran also includes transportation round trip from anywhere in the Riviera Maya including Tulum

This amazing 44-ft Lagoon Catamaran in Playa del Carmen ready to sail away with you and your group.  Taking you an adventure to snorkel with turtles with a capacity of up to 40 people.  Just a great option to celebrate, relax, eat, drink and snorkel.

Recommendations for a good sail trip on a catamaran to Isla Mujeres or in Playa del Carmen

  1. a 5-hour rental recommended on most catamarans minimum to ensure a good snorkeling experience.  For Catamarans to Isla Mujeres which already include a 7-hour rental and snorkeling either at the underwater museum by Cancun or with a reef close to it.  Also taking you to eat in the south part of the island vs eating on board like the playa del carmen catamarans.
  2. Always bring a towel with you in case you needed.  A lot of the boats in the area do not include towels since clients have lost most of them.
  3. Prepare for good tanning if you want to lay on the nets of the boats or on the front of the catamarans.
